Hello lovely travel obsessed!
After being home a couple of days it was time for me to travel back to Hamburg. The beautiful German harbour city has a lot to offer for travel lovers and it is time for me to show you a bit more of the city I love so much. From Amsterdam, Hamburg is reached with a short flight of less then 60 minutes. Take an Ubahn towards Hamburgs inner city and you will find yourself at the center of everything you may need.
At this moment we are staying at the beautiful Gastwerk Hotel, located near Hamburg’s Altona & Bahrenfeld area. Straight across from this industrial chique hotel you find the Bahrenpark, which is great when you want to relax and enjoy the lovely spring weather.
When entering the Gastwerk hotel you may wonder if you just arrived at a hotel, or that you just walking into a lovingly furnished loft. Both are true! At this design hotel you will be greeted by its lovely staff that works at the historical brick building. We instantly noticed the wonderful hospitality that goes far beyond customer service. About 120 years ago the Gastwerk building was the first to bring light to Hamburg’s western district. The main hall of the building, made entirely out of brick floods by light and reflects 6500 square feet of comfort. The Gastwerk Hotel offers 141 rooms, lofts and suites as well as their own restaurant Mangold and the L.Bar.
The beautiful Mangold restaurant is a great place to enjoy some of the finest wines while discussing your plans with friends. What we instantly noticed was the pleasant atmosphere. Gastwerk’s staff knows everything and is able to assist you with anything you may need. Enjoy the calm and relaxed music while sipping a dry white wine (pick a Riesling, when you want to go for a German wine) and catch up on today’s latest news by reading the large variety of newspapers the hotel has to offer.
We are staying in the modern business loft which is located in the extension of the hotel. The Business Loft is very spacious and stylish while maintaining an comfortable atmosphere. When entering the Business Loft you walk into a space filled with daylight. On your left you find the bathroom (with large walk-in shower and vanity area) while on the right you see the spacious closet area together with the rooms mini bar and safe. Walk a little further to find a large desk, including Leyseffier Coffee machine and tea making facilities. Look a little further to see your own iPhone docking statuib and a flatscreen tv. This is the perfect place to do some final work after a day full of meetings while enjoying a cup of espresso.
What we instantly noticed was the large double bed. The bed is 2.1 m long and very comfortable. While lounging on the bed you are touched by the daylight coming through the large windows that bring so much character to the Business Suite. After a day of enjoying the beautiful city of Hamburg, I put on one of the bathrobes and read some of my favorite magazines while listening to my latest Spotify playlist blasting through the docking station. Perfection.
The best breakfast
Waking up the next morning with a gentle nock on our loft door, our breakfast had just arrived and it looked amazing. If there is one thing I love about a good hotel it is ‚’hotel breakfast’’. After all the food we ordered was brought in, it was time to enjoy! I love to start my mornings with a soy-cappuccino in bed, together with fresh croissants, scrambled eggs and all different kinds of meats and cheese to make our breakfast complete. The flavors of the food provided by Gastwerk’s own restaurant Mangold are absolutely devine. Their cream-cheese brings me straight to New York and gives me flashbacks to my cream-cheese bagel addiction (that is a good thing!) While being in the comfort of your own Business Loft you can enjoy the ultimate breakfast while slowly waking up. Once finished, hop into the rainforest shower and start your day.
The Gastwerk Hotel can be easily reached by car since the hotel offers 60 parking places with an additional 12 underground parking spots for its guests. We decided to travel by Ubahn (Hamburgs Underground) since there is an Ubahn station 5 minutes away from the hotel. Within 15 minutes you can be at Hamburg’s beautiful Alster lake or look over the cities Hafencity. While traveling by Ubahn I would really like to recommend you to get a Group Ticket. We traveled everywhere with our 3 day Group Ticket which can be used for up to 5 people!
When visiting Hamburg I would definitely recommend you to check out the rates at Gastwerk Hotel on their website. I promise you, you will have a wonderful stay!
